Duncan Donuts and Eagle Bluffs visit

Josh and I took a little Duncan Donuts snack out to Eagle Bluffs conservation area.

Duncan Donuts aren't our favorite, but they are open in the evening, so that's a bonus.

We munched out donuts while overlooking the Missouri River. There was a strange picnic table where our feet dangled over a cliff that goes down into the river.

Eagle Conservation area is so darn beautiful. (You will probably hear me say the word beautiful over and over. The world is beautiful!)

There are wetlands that bird gravitate to. In the winter, there are so many geese and ducks, but this time of year is a little more sparse.

It was an enjoyable way to spend our Friday evening.

Sedalia to Clinton city

We had a few extra hours to kill so we made the trek from Sedalia to Clinton City.

It was not an easy ride, but we felt like we got to try our GC skills by devouring the hills. The ride there is farm land and forest. Since the train is elevated, we were looking down at streams and trees.

The Sedalia Katy depot is so nice! We felt very welcome there and they had nice clean bathrooms and plenty of water.  There's also a bike shop and separate store where you can get your Katy Trail gear. I got some Katy trail magnets and a car decal--- and I cannot wait to get back and buy some more loot.

Once we got to Clinton City, we realized that there was no place to refill our waters, so it was a thirsty and hot ride back.

The hottest couple!

Sedalia is a nice little town. Thank you, Sedalia! We will be back, especially since I learned there is a knit shop.

Tuesday night ride

Josh conned me into a bike ride on Tuesday. We already had to pick my bike up from the shop, so I figured it was worth riding around a bit.

Columbia has a nice set of riding trails that all connect. We rode from Capen Rock Park to the MKT trailhead.

We didn't really go fast and took our time to enjoy the scenery.

We went over what we thought was a flooded trail, but it looks like the trail just ended after we went over the water.

Riding through water is so fun. It was the best part of the ride.

We meandered through farm land and part of Mizzou's Athletic complex.

Did you know that they have this?

This was my favorite ride so far. It's so fun to ride on windy trails and I already know mountain bikes are in our future.

Operation Dugout Harness

On our evening walk, we decided to teach Dugout how to walk in his harness.

#fail

He was not having it, but that doesn't mean we didn't enjoy the scenery.

We live near a beautiful and mostly empty Indian Hills Park in Columbia, Mo. There is a disc golf course and a dog park, but the trails stay relatively  empty.

I finally got a chance to take some photos of my recent shawl.

This was suppose to be the Nurmilintu Shawl, but I didn't do the lace repeats because this yarn striped. That's a beautiful shawl, but it's going to have to be with a different yarn.

I am still pretty happy with the outcome and I think this will look great wrapped around my neck on crisp fall days.

Towards the end, Dugout got the hang of it, sort of. And, we had a nice evening walk.

Sunday Ride Aborted

Our Sunday ride started out with good intentions.

We were all set to ride from North Jefferson to Tibetts on the Katy Trail, but when I went to air up my tires and things went downhill. I set my bike up against the wall and this happened:

It feels like a minor dent, but I was overly dramatic and went back to the bike shop and demanded an exchange.

I am a little disappointed that my Specialized Ariel Disc bicycle  already has a paint chip, but I also have to realize a worn bike is a bike that has been ridden.

Josh's bike had two days alone while my bike was repaired. I like to pretend they are in love, but they are actually just bikes.

The shop put touch up paint on it (kind of) and they suggested that I get a kickstand so that my delicate bike doesn't get bruised again.

I'm honestly kind of in love with my kickstand and I realized that I really like my bike and don't want to live with out her.  And, the drama continues.

Little Dixie lake for a relaxing Sunday

It was a bit of a rest day for us today. I did go to the gym, but my legs are a little sore from yesterday's ride.

Around 6:30, Josh and I decided to go fishing-- better than television any day.

I usually knit and listen to podcasts while Josh fishes.

I took this as an opportunity to photo an  infinity scarf that I finished a couple of weeks ago.

I haven't been knitting for the last year, but have decided it was something I really enjoy doing.

Josh caught two crappie. Not a
Bad night.

Hartsburg to North Jefferson on the Katy trail

We went from Hartsburg to North Jefferson on the Katy trail for our weekend ride.

This part of the trail has been flooded, so the gravel is partially washed away and  puddles litter the trail a bit-- we also had to walk our bikes over a tree. It's  over run with tiny little toads that spot away as you ride. We took easy as we road towards the North Jefferson trailhead due to the conditions, but it was very scenic and lush.

As we approached Jefferson City, we have an awesome view of the Missouri capital building and we rode right along the highway. I have driven that highway several times and never even knew that the Katy Trail ran along it.

Once we made it to North Jefferson, we had to turn right around because there was no way we were going to make it home before dark. Our way home was much quicker because we booked it through the easy sections.

I kept going because I knew I had raisinettes in the car waiting for me and Josh too.

Overall, we rode 20.67 miles. That's not too bad, considering it was also leg day at the gym.

Boonville to Pilot Grove on the Katy Trail

We mad the trek from Boonville to Pilot Grove. We started out at the Boonville trailhead that takes you near the Casino and through part of the town.

As you leave town, the trail goes over the Missouri River.

This trail had a lot of monuments and old train cars  along the way.

I learned about the Santa Fe Trail. When I was growing up, the history books mostly talked about the Oregon trail. I didn't even know that there was such a thing about the Santa Fe Trail. I am related to Daniel Boone and his children had a lot to do with the history of this area.

There was also a campground. I think it would be so fun to camp and ride. Have any of you done that?

This was a hot ride, but there were a lot of attractions along the way. I would definitely do this leg of the Katy again!
